Summer Activities at the Women’s Support Center

This summer the Women’s Support Center hosted two training sessions led by US professionals specializing in the field of domestic violence and social work.

The first training took place from June 17th to 24th entitled “Domestic Violence Service Provider Intensive Training”. The training was conducted by Dr. Ruzanna Ohanjanian who is a lecturer and trainer. Ruzanna does psychological counseling and treatment intervention. Also, she is the author of more than thirty professional publications and presentations. The training offered practical skills to psychologists in the field dealing with the survivors of DV and taught new techniques in dealing with the client.

The second training took place from July 8th to 17th entitled “Capacity Building for the Women’s Support Center Team”. This five-day training was led by social worker and trainer Nayiri Nahapetyan. Nayiri is teaching at California State University, School of Social Work. She is also the president of the board of education of the Glendale School District. The Women’s Support Center gained valuable information and skills on team management, communication skills, and problem solving.

The WSC continues to improve the quality of its services by providing training to its own staff as well as to professionals in the field to strengthen the response to domestic violence victims in Armenia.
